Wylden is 5 months old and there are SO many things I never want to forget about this season of her life. Bath time in the kitchen sink is one of many. I just want to breathe in the scent of shea bubble bath and lavender lotion deeply and remember the way her eye lashes get thick and dark when they clump together from the water. This girl is HAPPIEST in the bath! The only downside is when we take her out, you’d think we pinched her!
Do you have moments like that? Sometimes, they can be the simplest things. Like enjoying a hot cup of coffee on the porch on a perfectly crisp fall day or laughing so hard with a friend that you can’t breathe or looking in your baby’s eyes and feeling so much love your heart could explode.
Today, I’m going to share a couple photography tips with you to help you capture the texture & emotion & feeling of those moments in a photograph that you’ll cherish forever.
1. FIND A NATURAL LIGHT SOURCE
I can’t give photography tips without mentioning lighting. If possible, find a natural light source and eliminate other artificial lights. Natural light is flattering, shows the true colors of your subject, and lets the ambience of the atmosphere really show through.
2. GET UP CLOSE
Sometimes it’s the little details that add the sweetest elements to our memories. I can’t get over Wylden’s wet eye lashes, her tiny hands, and her sweet little nose. In addition to your photos that set the whole scene, get in close and document those intricate things you don’t want to forget.
3. BE PATIENT & LET MOMENTS UNFOLD NATURALLY
Take your time. Don’t force anything. The sweetest moments will happen authentically and if you’re patient and ready behind the camera, you’ll get to freeze that moment in time with a photograph that will take you back to the emotion of that moment.
