Body Positive, Babe

Growing up, I struggled a lot with accepting my body & treating it positively. I felt very insecure about my appearance and it’s something I am still working on today, BUT I have felt renewed freedom in this area of my life over the past few years. (Praise God for that!) And if you know me, you know that the thing that drives my passion for photography is the chance it offers me to help others feel confident, beautiful, & free. I’m learning that starts with me - how I treat, talk about, and care for myself, too.

So, when is a good time to do a boudoir photoshoot?

With what I shared above in mind, there is never a bad time to book a boudoir photo session because I think it’s an artistic experience of celebrating your unique beauty & strength!

You truly don’t need an “occassion”, but let me just share a few to get your wheels turning!

1. Boudoir photography is an awesome way to celebrate you & your body’s victories.

All of my boudoir sessions are very meaningful to me, but two sessions that really stand out in my mind are one I booked with a 40+ year old woman who beat her battle with breast cancer & another woman who felt freed from a long journey through an eating disorder. Both of these women booked their boudoir sessions with me as a way to celebrate what their body had done! How amazing is that?

What is something you have to celebrate your body for? Delivering a baby? Breastfeeding your baby? Getting healthy? Overcoming an eating disorder? Beating cancer? Healing from a miscarriage?

Your body has carried you (& others) through ups & downs. It is worth celebrating!

2. Boudoir photos make the best wedding, anniversary, or Valentine’s gift.

This is a gift your husband cannot get from anyone else. It can’t be bought from a store. He can’t add it to his Amazon wish list. He may not even know that he wants it until he gets it. (Many guys haven’t even heard of boudoir photography, which makes the gift-giving process even more fun, eek!) A boudoir album for your husband is literally priceless.

3. Celebrate a birthday with boudoir photography!

This could be for your man’s birthday - or for YOURS! I have photographed women of ALL ages & believe our bodies are beautiful at every step of this journey through life.

Want to book a session just because?

I haven’t met a woman yet who hasn’t, at some point, struggled with maintaining a positive body image & accepting her body just as it is. Boudoir photography is vulnerable. (This is coming from a girl who didn’t like changing in front of her mom in the mall dressing room!) But, I think the process of deciding to do a session to ultimately doing it, is a really cool mental & emotional journey of accepting and celebrating your body as it is.

I have photographed soon-to-be brides and mom’s of multiple kids. I have photographed c-section scars, stretch marks, dimples, and all kinds of curves & body types. Every woman I have photographed is beautiful.

If you’re ready to experience the freeing fun of a boudoir session, I am ready for you!
