Frequently Asked Questions

I am so FREAKING NERVOUS... is that normal?

Girl, yes. I was nervous before my boudoir shoots, too. Like couldn't sleep the night before my first one! (Yes, I have done two already and I plan to do more because they are so FREAKING fun.) BUT, even if you feel nervous coming in, I promise you will be pleasantly surprised at how much fun we will have together and how your confidence will build throughout the shoot as you start to own & rock your unique beauty.

What do I wear for a boudoir photography session?

Picking out what to wear for a boudoir session can feel hard, but it doesn’t have to be! For specific tips on picking out a boudoir outfit that makes you feel confident and your guy feel special, read this blog! Here are a few tips to get you started: 1. Highlight your best asset! What do you love most about your body, pick something that will show it off! 2. Choose an outfit that reflects your personality. Sometimes our first thought with boudoir is lace lingerie, but that might not be you! Think outside of that box with sporty Calvin Klein sports bras or edgy black leather jackets or bridal lace veils. 3. Bring something special to your guy. This could be something of his, like a t-shirt or guitar, or something he gave you, like a piece of jewelry or something sentimental. 4. You can’t go wrong with black and lacy. If you’re feeling stuck on what to wear, start there! 5. Don’t forget the details. Shoes, jewelry, your favorite shade of lipstick - these are the little touches that will help you feel amazing during your boudoir session!

Should I get my hair & make up done for my boudoir photography session?

I totally recommend doing this! Again, I want you to feel comfortable, and beautiful, and very YOU! But, this is a special occasion and I’m guessing you don’t get photos like this taken very often. ;) You are worth it and I think it is a worthy investment that will last longer than just that day. It will be in your photos forever! And if it helps make you feel that much more confident in front of my camera, yes girl, do it! I am happy to make recommendations of amazing hair & make up artist if you need a recommendation.

Should I get a spray tan for my boudoir photography session?

Again, this is totally up to your preference. We have all heard horror stories of spray tans gone wrong, so there is a risk, but fore the most part in my experience, they tend to photograph beautifully in the natural light during my sessions. I suggest leaning towards the the conservative side when it comes to color, but if you are familiar with spray tans and get them regularly, stick with your normal routine.

Is there an age limit for boudoir photography?

I have photographed women of all ages for my boudoir sessions! Soon-to-be brides in their 20’s and women who are celebrating long-time wedding anniversaries and want to give their husbands a special gift. There is no perfect age for these sessions. You are beautiful and worthy in this season, whatever the number of candles on your cake!

Do you offer photography for plus size or curvy women?

Of course! Every body is a bikini body in my opinion. ;) We come in all shapes & sizes and that part of what makes women so beautiful & unique! I embrace all kinds of body types and I hope you will learn to embrace your unique beauty during our session together, too.

I have some insecurities about my body - do you think I will be able to feel beautiful in a boudoir photography session?

I think we all have had insecurities and thoughts swirl around in our mind about being an “ideal” weight or bra size or look. Sister, if you have an insecurity you are struggling with - you are NOT alone!! My personal journey with self-acceptance and maintaining a positive body image is ongoing, not perfect, and it’s something I have to surrender over and over. No, there is nothing wrong with working hard and prepping physically before this type of shoot - there is no shame in that! But I hope that you will be able to come in and accept your body in any phase of your journey & treat it kindly, and that I will be able to help you feel confident, beautiful, and free in front of my lens.

Do you “photoshop” your boudoir images?

The phrase “photoshop” is funny. First of all, Photoshop is a noun. It’s a software program used for editing photos. But it has been turned into a verb and this phrase that people using jokingly with me all the time. “You can photoshop that out, right?” “You can just photoshop my butt, right?” “You can just photoshop these wrinkles out, right?” It usually reveals our insecurities because we are essentially asking, you can edit out all the things I consider flaws in myself, right?

It is my job, as your photographer, to photograph you in the most flattering way possible. To accentuate what you love about yourself and help you see yourself in a fresh & beautiful way! I am not going to alter your natural appearance, because I believe it is BEAUTIFUL as it is & worth celebrating & capturing as it is!

With that said - did you have a break out before our session? Girl, I got you. Did you have a blemish pop up in the center of your forehead the morning of our shoot? Honey, don’t worry. Those things aren’t you. They’re just Tuesday and they will go away. I will always edit those things out for you in my post-processing. Because that is what I would want, too! But no, I will not change the size of your arms, I will not remove all your wrinkles, I will not change the shape of your body. YOU are beautiful as you are. And it’s my goal to help you see it and reflect back to you the most beautiful image of yourself.

If you have an insecurity you’d like to chat about, I am all ears. I want you to be heard and understood. For example, I had a client who had a scar on her back that she had recently acquired form a surgery that didn’t heal correctly. She said it brought back negative feelings towards the experience and she didn’t feel that it was a true part of who she was. I heard that and understood and was happy to remove them from her photos. It’s definitely an open conversation. But all in all, blemish removal and light retouching/softening are where I draw the line when it comes to retouching.

Do you shoot nude images?

It is totally up to you how much you do or do not show during your session. I have "seen it all!" And I will be your hype girl all the way! Your body is a good body. :)

Will my images be shard publicly in any form?

When you book a session, we will be sending you a permission release where you will have the chance to let us know how you are comfortable with your images being used publicly, if at all. All the women featured on this private website have given their permission for their photos to be used in this manner.
