These are the moments

There’s something so important about documenting the important moments in your life as a family. Karen reached out to me for a family photo session just as her family was selling their farm. As a prior-military family, they moved around a lot the first few years of their marriage, and their home on the Bear Fruit Farm in Lenoir City was an extra special place to them. Karen asked specifically for me to help her document this season through a lifestyle photography session.

Lifestyle vs. Classic Photography

When I think of classic family portraits, I think of photos where every one is smiling and looking at the camera - a classic portrait like you’d put on your Christmas card. When it comes to lifestyle photography, the session simply gets to breathe a little more than others, capturing those little special things about your family and the setting as well. More candid. My photographic style is a mixture of both.

Do you take photos on your phone that you love but you feel like they’re lacking a little somethin? Grab my Lightroom Mobile Presets to play with 6 customizable presets I created with you in mind that you can use to edit your camera roll with the FREE Lightroom Mobile app.

Let them be little

Karen really wanted to document this special season of their life as a whole, and I think we totally nailed it with shots of their animals, the barn, and their incredible tomato garden (it makes me miss summer!). I especially love that Karen asked for me to capture the interactions between her family so she can “remember their faces and personalities when we lived in this place and remember all of the work and love that filled our lives taking care of it.” Those smiles, giggles, messes, and expressions are the GOOD stuff!

Why I do what I do

Because long after seasons change, kids grow older, and moving boxes are packed, unpacked, and packed again, there will be photos of this special season, in all its mess and dirt and laughter and glory, and the Hogue family will get to remember. It’s just the best.

Let’s get it scheduled

When was the last time you had family photos taken? I bet it’s been a minute, because life gets crazy. I know it can be overwhelming to get everyone dressed & ready & in a good mood :) But I can help! Get the What to Wear Guide to take the guesswork out of choosing everyones outfits. All you have to do is show up, I’ll do the rest. I promise you won’t regret capturing this season with your family so you can remember it for the rest of your life, you know where to reach me.
