Newborn In-Home Family Photo Session

And then there were 3…

This is the essence of these people. That quiet calm & glow & contentment & safety. That “home” feeling. That “you are welcome here” feeling. Brianna had worrisome news delivered throughout her pregnancy, but she felt the Lord tell her that she would hold a healthy baby come March. And then to see her here with Ben holding Lily, safe & sound & beautiful & perfect - I am wrecked. 😭

It’s such a privilege to try & bottle up what you hold most dear in a photograph. I can’t get over it.

Sweet Mama

The dichotomy of being a mother. You are both strength & serenity. Adventure & safety. A planner & an adapter. Constant & ever-changing. For all that you are in one sense, you are probably fully the opposite as well, because well, you have to be. Mamas, you are amazing. My hope is that mamas and dads have beautiful photos of those newborn days to cherish forever.

Better together

Dads rock, too. One thing I love about family (especially newborn) sessions is that you are able to see you & your partner parenting TOGETHER. Instead of dad or mom being the one behind the camera, you are both in the picture which I love.

What I love most about newborn photography is the way these photos we create, showcase the tender and still moments of those first few weeks & months with a new babe. The sleepless nights, challenges, and diaper changes are no joke- but this sacred season slips by so quickly as our babes grow (faster than we believe possible).

Outside looking in

Another magical thing that happens when I get to capture parents with their new baby at home, is that moms & dads get a unique vantage point to see their family in a new perspective. From an outside lens, they get a glimpse of their full arms, sleepy smiles, and the deep bond between themselves and their precious babe.

The sweetest gift

Those squishy faces, smooth baby skin, and teeny toes do not last. I’ve said it before, but truly these moments are so fleeting. I consider it a huge honor to step into my clients homes to photograph these first few days and weeks of new life. Celebrating the miracle of new life, motherhood, and growing families is never lost on me.

When mamas-to-be and new moms share pieces of their pregnancy journey and story with me, I am so humbled. Knowing some of the fears and hopes my clients carry, equips me to enter into places of rich meaning and depth as I photograph their new family.

Is your family growing? You will NOT regret investing in family photos. Whether you are expecting your first baby, watching your babies grow into kiddos, or sending your grown children to college - this season is so special.

Let’s be real

In these newborn days, you’re camera roll is likely FULL to the brim with photos of each smirk, sleepy face, and new expression your little one makes. Don’t let your photos stay trapped in your camera gallery - use my Lightroom Presets for your favorites and you’ll have photos you are ready to send to family members, hang on your walls, and put into those baby books.

Heart eyes for all the family sessions…
